If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results, then why do we bother setting New Years resolutions (NYRs)? USA Today estimates that 80% of NYRs fail while Forbes magazine and New York Magazine both estimate a bleaker 92% failure rate within the calendar year. The failure is not only unsurprising, but is preventable!

You Aren’t My Hero
What is a hero? Someone successful? Someone who did something no one else did? Someone who risked his/her life?
John Maxwell and Big Brother
I just concluded rereading George Orwell’s grim novel 1984. The book painted a bleak picture of our future; however, such a future filled with “Big Brother,” “Thought Police,” and criminalization of nearly everything we enjoy, never came to exist (and I will venture to guess that it never will). Thought the fictitious world will remain fiction, one pillar of the made-up governmental structure remains terrifying to me: “Ignorance is Strength.”
I Can’t Wait Until Thursday
We all know that in 48 hours millions of Americans will head to the polls to elect our next President. We all know this election is important. We all know this election boils down to choosing polar opposites. We all know that our country is divided. However, with all of this knowledge, I am guessing that many Americans feel how I do, we all can’t wait for Thursday, November 10th.
Are We One?
The 2016 election season has been one of the most unpredictable rollercoasters in the history of our nation’s politics. However, on November 8, 2016, the craziness comes to an abrupt halt as voters head to the polls and finalize their decisions about who will lead our country. America, a beacon of hope for millions across the globe, is going to be placed on two radically different tracks depending on the outcome of the presidential election. However, as America decides who will lead, we must ask the question: will the rest follow? Continue reading “Are We One?”
Great Leap Forward: The Sequel
Consider this, in June of 2007 the first iPhone was sold. Just 9 years ago we didn’t have the “app store,” but recently the 1 billionth iPhone was sold. In one decade, we went from a crazy guy named Steve Jobs talking about the iPhone, to the iPhone being as common as any other piece of technology.

Plane Drool
Next time you are cruising at 37,000 feet, eating a bad substitute to trail mix, and bored out of your mind, take a good look around. Start with the rows around you that allow you to be inconspicuous, then work your way back. What are the people doing?
A Look at Time: Part 2
This post is a continuation of “Wasting our Lives Away.”

The Grand Canyon started as a normal looking riverbed; the tallest tree in the Redwoods began as a sapling. Patience and the passing of time can produce remarkable outcomes.
FOMC Impact
What if there was a way for investors to not only know a specific day in which stock prices will be moving, but the exact minute? What if that stock movement occurred on a set, predictable, and even published, schedule? You will really dislike hearing that this movement in equity prices has already occurred five times this year, and will happen at least three more.
Tesla’s Worst Nightmare
In his inaugural address, President Franklin D. Roosevelt said the famous words, “…the only thing we have to fear is fear itself…” It is one of the most quoted lines in history; however, the next part of his speech is commonly overlooked: “…nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” The “needed efforts” that FDR spoke of can be epitomized by the exertion of humanity to lift the comforts of normality and push forward with new technological progress. Society needs to embrace the newness of progress or we will prevent what economist Joseph Schumpeter called “creative destruction.” Creative destruction is the process of new innovation replacing the old; it is the conversion of retreating into advancing.
